The Narrative Machine Meets Robots – Musical Interactions with Humanoids a Tutorial at the IEEE-RAS Humanoids 2019 conference in Toronto, Canada

My group and I ran a very successful hands on tutorial/workshop at the IEEE-RAS Humanoids 2019 conference in Toronto, Canada entitled “The Narrative Machine Meets Robots – Musical Interactions with Humanoids a Tutorial”. This tutorial focused on dealing with latency in multi-robot systems using collaborative music playing as the example task. During the tutorial we provided multiple child size humanoid robots (the ROBOTIS DARWiN OP). We taught the students how to program the robots, interact with human instruments, and to deal with synchronization and latency. The end result was 5x of these robots playing human instruments together in synchrony. This very hands on and interactive tutorial/workshop was a great success.
